Cross-Country Skiing
Ski from our front door onto 15km of groomed trails
Marlboro Nordic Ski Club
The Whetstone Inn partners with the Marlboro Nordic Ski Club, providing guests with complimentary trail access. Established in 2020, the club maintains approximately 15 kilometers of groomed ski trails throughout Marlboro and the former Marlboro College campus. Several trails border the inn's property, so you can ski directly from our front door.
The Marlboro Nordic Ski Club is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to promoting cross-country skiing in southern Vermont. The club is affiliated with the New England Nordic Ski Association and handles trail design, grooming, and maintenance.
The Trails
The Town Trail and South Pond Loop wind through Marlboro, with South Pond being a notable scenic highlight. All trails are on private land, and visitors are asked to remain on groomed paths. Pedestrians and leashed dogs are welcome on the trails; pet owners must clean up after their animals.
Equipment
Ski rentals are not available at the inn or the club, but Burrows Sports in Brattleboro offers equipment rentals. Printed maps are available on-site, or you can download full-color digital versions from the club's website. Before heading out, check trail rules and current conditions online.
